Apparently when a colony of bees is swarming (moving to a new hive), the bees become very gentle and rarely sting. This unusual novel about an elderly beekeeper includes a scene where a character deliberately walks right into the middle of the swarm; the bees touch her gently, and she emerges without a single sting.
