In the seventh book in the bestselling series, evil scientists are still trying to convince Max that she needs to save the world, this time by providing the genetic link in speeding up the pace of evolution. Worse, they're trying to convince her that her perfect mate is Dylan, the newest addition to the flock. The problem is that, despite herself, Max is starting to believe it. Fang travels the country collecting his own gang of evolved humans, but the two separate flocks must unite to defeat a frightening doomsday cult whose motto is Save the Planet: Kill the Humans. And this time, the true heroine -- for once -- might just be little Angel.

Characters edit see section history

  • Maximum Ride (Max): Max is fifteen and leader of the flock, her group of winged bird kids. She has the ability to fly super fast, she sometimes has a voice in her head that telles her what to do. She was created to save the world and could live without knowing that. Has a current "love affair" between Fang and Dylan. 'Maya' is her clone.
  • Max: Ha. The current Max or the earlier one? They're two completely different people.
  • gen.binas: Add a description of this character.
  • Fang: Fifteen year old former member of the flock, he has the ability to become invisible if he stays still. Loves black clothes and Max. He started a blog to help Max save the world.
  • Dylan: Created by "the scientists" as a perfect match for Max. Wears his heart on his sleeve. is one of Max's possible love interest
  • Angelika: Angel is the youngest member of the flock at seven years old. The angelic winged little girl can read minds, as well as control people, breathe underwater, and talk to fish. She wants to lead the flock instead of Max, despite her young age, because she has the most "talents" and is the most evolved in the flock. She is also the biological sister of Gazzy. She has been known to hold votes, possibly (even most likely) controlling minds to get what she wants. In this book, she becomes more on Max's side, speaking up for her and trying to help her through her emotional crisis (even if she refused to admit she has one).
  • Kate
  • Dr. Hans
  • Robo Iggy: Iggy is fifteen and blind due to a surgery to enhance his night vision (which is also non-existent), but surprisingly is the best cook of all the bird kids. Like the rest of the flock, he has wings, along with his own powers. He has more sensitive hearing and can tell the color of objects by his sense of touch. He, along with his best man Gazzy, are experts on anything explosive. May have a crush on Ella.
  • Toni
  • Ella: Max's half-sister that has a crush on Iggy. Dr. Martinez is her mother, and the woman that donated the egg that became Max.
  • Nudge: Twelve and has been known to talk nonstop, Nudge could be considered the girlie-girl of the flock. Aside from the wings, she'd love to be a normal kid getting a normal education. She's excellent at hacking computers and handling technology. She can also attract things, like a magnet. That is...if she wants to. Not only that but she loves singing and fashion!
  • Gasman: Also known as "the Gasman" his power.... well his name says it all. Angel's older brother also likes to create explosives
  • Total: Angel's talking and flying dog
  • Ratchet: Fang's first gang member. A Gen 77 kid. Has super enhanced senses. Was in a gang before Fang took him because his mom kicked him out of the house. She thought him to be possessed or something because he could hear her every whisper and knew stuff, and she thought he was reading her mind.
  • Star: A catholic school girl in Fang's new gang. Gen 77 kid. Has super speed and is very tough.
  • Kate Tan Wei Ying: A vegan in Fang's gang and is friends with Star, also attending her school. Was taken at the same time as Star. Gen 77. Has super strength. Very against violence.
  • Maya "Max II": Max's clone who was invited into the Fang gang. Although she's cloned from Max, they are totally different in personality. Fang is having a hard time around her. they also call her Maya in this book.
  • Holden Squibb: Member of Fang's gang. Can regenerate limbs, and is nicknamed Starfish because of his powers.
  • Beth: The beautiful main speaker of the One Light.
  • Jeb: He used to be the group leader who helped the bird kids escape The School and hid them away. He suddenly disappeared. Later he was found betraying the Flock and claims to be Max's biological father.
  • Hans Gunther-Hagen: A scientist who is trying to cause all humans to become genetically enhanced, and is encouraging Max to love Dylan. Possibly dies in a plane crash. Also is maybe possibly on the Mad scientist side.
  • Mark: Gen 77 kid that always follows the flock around.
  • Dr. Valencia Martinez: She is Max and Ella's mother, and is a scientist that worked with Jeb. She was first introduced in the first book, The Angel Experiment, as a kind veterinarian. she is amazing at cooking mexican food and chocolate chip cookies... Max's favorite.
  • Sofia Tabernilla: French news caster who reports things to Fang
  • Angel: Youngest in the flock. Can control people's minds, breathe underwater and talk to fish.
  • Mandy-Marie: Dylan is "Mr. Perfect". He is not a bird kid, but a clone and apparently Max's perfect other half. Also, he uses he his amazing singing voice to hypnotize normal humans.
  • Botboy Josh
