I already read the Cleopatra by Magaret George and now I m curious about this one. What yout think about it ?
This will give you the facts about Cleopatra. While George did a great deal of research for her novel, it is fiction.
It is a fun read. Plus, you get to meet others in the margins, including Cicero, Dio and Plutarch
I'm enjoying Cleopatra immensely. It's fascinating to read about civilization back then. Although it's hard to believe,
I think we have come a long way since then. I suggest you give the book a try.
I really liked Cleopatra. There were points where I couldn't put it down, I'd read a passage and then I'd want to find out how events played out. This book really put into perspective the world Cleopatra inhabited during her twenty-two year reign, giving the reader a realistic portrait of what the Queen of Egypt was really like and her central role in events that shaped history two millennia ago.
I was intrigued by the thought that almost everything we believed about this woman was written by her enemies. Schiff reminds us that even after two thousand years, the history of Cleopartra remains highly subjective. Even a biography as wonderfully researched as this one, cannot be free of bias.
History is always (most always) written by the conqueror.
Could someone please tell me if this is a fiction or non fiction book?
It is non-fiction. History. I don't know how people can think it is fiction.
