“How come Steve Martin can do EVERYTHING so well - not fair! Seriously - very well written book that looks at the New York art scene. Martin takes you behind the scenes of Sotheby's, Christies and the uptown/downtown world of New York art collecting. With a main character you love to hate, who you both root for and wish to throttle, this book skips along the landscape and timeline of New York and the art world. I love that photographs of the pictures (what we call paintings but the art world calls 'pictures', I learned) are included in the novel. Makes you think about art and its function in our world. Great read. ”
