“This was a truly strange mish-mash that was intermittently amusing, but ultimately did not really hang together into a coherent story. It just had TOO MUCH thrown into it: teen abortion, brain tumor, writer's block, pedophilia, celebrity obsession, discovery of an unknown sibling ... on and on. While I am not typically averse to a story's being chock-full of such an assemblage, in this case, too many of the elements were just there for no apparent reason, with nothing much ever being done...”
