This book has an interesting plot, but I live int he Carolinas, and I am so put off by the fake Carolinian-ness (if that's the word I'm looking for...) that it makes the book a bit hard for me to read. For example, she uses a lot of "caint" and "reckon" which is really not typical of the Carolina dialect at all (and then skips over it in other places and just says "can't.") I think this would have been a really good read if not for being written in a voice that wasn't true to the author.

This book was such a surprise find. I am glad I read it. I read it in an entire night at work. I just wanted to feed and take care of those girls at first....such a good read!

It was an easy read, but I have to disagree with acorn when she says teh ending was so obvious. I did not find that to be the case. Maybe someone told you of the twist at the end? I loved it and found the book a nice break at the end of a hectic day. It was powerful and touching. The end was shocking.

This book definitely draws you in with its sad story. It was very powerful, and at times so disturbing that you have to put it down or skip over some paragraphs. Unfortunately, the ending was very obvious. Even if you didn't know there was a "twist" you'd at least catch on that something wasn't right before you hit the third chapter.
