“I had high expectations because everybody was talking as if it was the next great Southern author and novel. Though I did find his prose eloquent, the story circled one too many times for me. If you've lived in the South for a number of years you'll recognize this familiar tale immediately after the first few chapters and wonder if it will go anywhere fresh. The answer is no it doesn't, which led me with a nice attachments to the characters but an eerie suspicion I've been baited by race again.”
