“*spoilers*
This was a hard one to rate and review, so you get a list. Normal really.
1. Ma is a saint. That woman deserve my undying praise, why? #2
2. Jack needs punched. PUNCHED. I mean, I would of loved this if I didn't find that kid so annoying. I understand the whole growing up in a room thing, but his total inability to think of Ma as a person and not someone to serve him, really got to me.
3. The breastfeeding thing threw me every time it was mentioned. It wasn't until a good bit through that I actually clicked what he was on a about. Other things that threw me? The bits about his penis and him touching his little cousin.
4. His Grandmother and 'Steppa' were amazing.
I don't really have anything else to say. Apart from the fact the book seemed to last way longer than it should of. Some of the scenes were useless. It also nearly gave me a heart attack.
I give serious kudos to Emma Donoghue for her writing. It was amazing, but I'm just not a fan of gritty books and this definitely was gritty in my opinion.
The subject didn't comfort me and I didn't find myself enjoying reading about this, so although I did like it, I can't say I love it, but I would definitely recommend it.”
