A time-travel portal. A read that will take you to a place, far away, and long ago. Well-written, and worth the time to savor. Very French, rich language and historically adept, believable bent regarding controversial, biblical topic...The Holy Grail...

The book started out good. I admire how the author vividly described medieval Carcassona. It was very detailed, as if she lived there herself! It was quite evident the amount of research done for the story. I learned a lot about Cathar history and their version of the grail. Although comparing...

A completely engrossing double adventure, with a background of the Midi during Cathar times and a unique twist on the Grail quest.

The summary seemed compelling, but I wasn't impressed with the writing at all. This is also a pretty lengthy novel, and the writing just didn't get my hooked like it should have if i was going to go through all 500 pages.

As I read, I waited for the story to develop with some depth - never happened. For me, this book was a bust.

In the summer of 2005 Alice is volunteering for a week on an archaeological dig and discovers a cave. In the cave she finds two bodies, a ring, and a labyrinth. Alice quickly finds herself in trouble with her friend, Shelagh, who is officially part of the dig and the authorities. In the year 1209, Alais is living in a town that is on the brink of war. She too is finding things in her life are not all that they seem. The story unfolds from both the present (2005) and the past. Both women on a journey to find the truth. The book is reminiscent of The DaVinci Code or The Expected One. Though I liked both books better. While reading I found it to be slow going through some of the sections until near the end and then I raced to see what would happen to Alice and Alais.

very nice and different book ...... i liked the continuity of mystery , sensory details of places.. of both the time ..it was like watching a movie with so many more hidden details .The way both stories moves to end simultaneously was a really page turner in last , it was quite thick book but i didnt found any character details irrelevant to plot writer did a good job abt history research . one need to put a little attention on details initially(need patience too) ..then in mid sometimes it become slow but overall a nice and different read ..the one you going to remember for long time

Excellent read. However, it's one of those books that you really have to pay attention in the beginning. It's like a movie that you want to see several times to catch all the hidden details.

A very remarkable story and a wonderful read, Labyrinth teaches us that the past is always with us interwoven within our souls. The effects of our ancestors actions makes us who we are, and the actions of us today will form our children and so on. Our physical traits aren't the only thing we inherit from them, but also something deeper.
Kate Mosse pays very close attention to details. Every little thing is precisley described, so as to form a perfect picture of the noun in your mind. She is an exceptional writer. With the attention to details even the lauguages she uses makes her style of writing grande.
This is one of those stories that will stay in your mind for days, or weeks after you have finished with it. It is a story of the Grail, but this Grail is unlike any we are familiar with. I highly recommend this book a very good "woman's read" but can also be read by a male or anyone with interest in the mideavil timeperiod, or the Grail.

Wow, I'm not use to taking so long to get through a book. It was good, don't get me wrong, but boy did I have to read slow and use my brain!! I'm not use to that.
