Father Tim is Father Tim but more vulnerable than ever. Mysteriously called back to his home town of Holly Springs, he finds old wounds opened. Stories of his past surface as the mystery unravels and Father Tim must face a difficult truth and make a decision he finds just as difficult.
I liked all of the background information this book gave regarding Father Tim's childhood. New characters gave a fresh life to the aging priest. Cynthia and Dooley's calls kept the reader in touch with the familiar characters as well, but the book centered on Fr. Tim's hometown and early life.”
“Jan Karon starts a new series, the Father Timothy series, based on her main character in her famous Mitford Series. This first book explores some of the unanswered mysteries of Father Timothy's past especially regarding his estranged father. A good read.”

This book delves into the childhood of Father Tim and you learn who the people were who shaped him. It wasn't my favorite book, mainly because it is missing so many of the characters I love and the subject matter is quite a bit heavier, but it is still a great book and a must-read for Mitford fans so they can finally come to know Father Tim.”

I have been their many times myself and I love the old beauitful homes and the lazy Streets
of the town and the charm of the old buildings & Magnolia trees. We could all use some
charm in our own little worlds, helps to make the world a better place. I liked this Book
very much was a nice change from mitford town people, who I like but this was a nice change. Good to read about alot of the places I know about like Memphis, & the Peabody
hotel. ”
“I thought I might not like this as much as I LOVED the Mitford series, but................ I loved this! Insight into the life of my beloved Father Tim. I'd love to be able to visit Holly Springs on the same trip as Mitford.”
