it was good, but i will not be continuing the series at this time. i just felt like there was a lot of hype about the book and it didn't live up to it. The fact that they released the book and the movie all at once told me it was overly hyped up from the beginning.

I Am Number Four was written by pen name of Pitticas Lore. This 440 page novel is the first in the Lorien Legacies series. The story first starts off with main character Daniel Jones, which is then changed to John Smith as he flees away to Paradise, Ohio. After years of changing names, identities, homes, and not being able to stay put, John runs. John used to live on a planet called Lorien until the Mogadorians came and over took the place leaving it trashed and washed up. For John and his Cepan or guardian, Henri and eighteen others flee to earth to remain unnoticed and protected. But with number one, two, and three, found and killed, John Smith is number four and he is next.
My overall rating for I Am Number Four is a 3/5 stars. I did see the movie when it first came out and I was amazed by it. But when I was reading the book, nothing really got my attention. I felt bored while reading this book, (which I don’t know if it has to do with watching the movie prior). But I did feel the book was more detailed.

John Smith is a Garde from the planet Lorein and is now on Earth because of the Mogadorians. They attacked Lorein to steal their resources. There are nine Garde and John is the fourth. The Mogadorians have killed three, now and John next.

Nice concept, SF with recognizable items. A bit moralising but that's not lethal.

This book is very good! I love all the foreshadowing. When Henri was leaving and #4 said he felt like he would never see Henri again I practically yelled at my book, "DON"T LET HIM GO ALONE!" and it took #4 way to long to check the loric chest to see if Henri was still alive, the suspense was killing me! And I know that the Garde are super smart but even I saw that Bernie Kosar was a Chimæra. How ever I didn't see the connection between Hadley (the chimæra in his visions). I liked how Hadley was in every place, looking after #4 even though he didn't know Hadley was watching. I would love to have a pet like that. Especially one as loving as Hadley. I cried when Bernie Kosar was getting killed and the book said that he was telling #4 to leave even though his eyes were afraid. I also liked how #4 used his power of communicating with animals to turn the Magodorian's beast against them. That scene was really moving as #4 showed the beast what they had in common and the beast helped them. I couldn't believe that Henri died. But I loved how #4 put his ashes on the dashboard of the truck, so he could look out at the new town as he has always done before. Kind of like how my mom wants to be cremated when she dies and put into a jar with googly eyes, so she is still "always waiting". This book is rated right up with the hunger games, and I can't wait to read the next book.
