Movie Connections edit see section history

  • The Little Scarlet Flower: Animated film, released in 1952 (Russia)
  • The Little Scarlet Flower (IMDb): Film, released in 1977 (Russia) directed by Irina Povolotskaya. One main difference with the book is that in the film the characters have names, while in Aksakov's tale everyone remain nameless. The focus of the film is Alyona (the younger daughter who asked for the scarlet flower) and the heart broken witch (who transformed the prince into the monste, because he cruelly rejected her love). The movie plays heavily with colors akin to "Hero" directed by Yimou Zhang (starring Jet Li)
