“Psychic librarian Ophelia Jensen has an exciting life––solving supernatural mysteries with her Grandmother Abby and her adopted teenage daughter, Tink, who also happens to be a medium. But, all Ophelia really wants is to create some normalcy and routine.
When Ophelia’s elderly Great–Aunt Dot comes to Summerset, Iowa, for a visit and is out from the watchful eye of her older sister, Dot is determined to find a little fun and excitement, too. The gruesome murder of a funeral director in a neighboring town gives her just that. She’s heard stories of Ophelia and Abby’s adventures and she wants one of her own, but Ophelia is dead set against it. She’s had enough murder and mayhem, thank you very much, but her spry great–aunt has other ideas. And it seems that even the Fates are conspiring against Ophelia, when Tink starts dreaming of ghastly ghosts imploring her for help Ophelia knows that there is another adventure about to unravel.
”
“This was a fast, easy & entertaining read.
Ophelia's soon to be adopted daughter Tink (Titania) has been kidnapped after Tink has a series of terrifying visions (ghosts with missing body parts reaching out to her and asking for help). To add further to Tink's visions, her puppy T.P. comes running out of the woods with a new ball (a human skull)!
Abby's Aunt Dot (who talks to the Faeries) comes to visit from Appalachia and near drives Abby & Ophelia crazy.
The new library helper is too good to be true...Cobra turns back up...and Darci aids & abets the craziness.
Although I knew from the beginning what was going on...this wasn't as violent as the others I read in the series, so I rated it higher. I like the bits of information on the paranormal that is presented in the book, and there was a piece of information regarding purification that is actually quite important in real life that I had forgotten about.

This are spiraling out of control for Ophelia when Darci decides she is going to college, Aunt Dot comes from Appalachia for a visit, T.P. finds a skull and Tink is having some disturbing visions. Ophelia's Aunt Dot is set on having an adventure but she might have gotten more then she bargained for between the skull and Tink's nightmares.
This was another great additional to the Ophelia and Abby mystery series. Although there is a great deal going on in this novel it was still a fun read and enjoyable. Perfect for a rainy spring afternoon (or morning).

“This is a fab cozy series with a tweak of paranormal. ”

Trying to keep up with Aunt Dot’s antics, balancing her responsibilities at the library and dealing with the emotional angst of a teenaged medium, Ophelia tries to avoid becoming involved in yet another murder investigation.
As in all the adventures of these amateur sleuths, the generational witches grow in their understanding of the craft as well as their skills at working with the authorities to solve crime. The mysteries in this series are captivating and the characters have grown endearing to the point that I look forward to brewing a little tea for their visit. ”
“5th book in the series - and still a lot of fun! I thought by now, the series might get repetitive and stale, but it stays fresh & fun.
We get to meet 91-year old Aunt Dot - who's a hoot!! Can't wait to meet 100-year old Aunt Mary - next book I guess ... but it's not out yet, sigh!
Found this first book in the library just about a month ago, and quickly reserved the other 4 so I could read them all back to back. The 5th one was just published in Sept 07 - 9 months ago, so I have quite a wait I guess before meeting Aunt Mary! ah well!”
“I thoroughly enjoyed this book!
A continuation of Ophelia and Abby's sleuthing.”
“A pleasant book, but I would like to have the witchcraft and psychic elements a little more developed. The rituals are described in detail, but they don't fit will with the plot. If this were a first book, I would be waiting for improvement down the road, but as the fifth book in the series, I am not sure whether we can hope for much more.”

I found this author a while back, and am amazed that she's already on her 5th book in this series! They're sort of a tea-cozy/paranormal read; Ophelia and her clan are witches, but most of the body count is staged off-page, nothing too graphic for the reader.
Since we last saw Ophelia, she has proceeded with her legal adoption of Tink, the young teen she rescued a book or two back. Tink, aka Titania, is a medium coming into her own power. Ophelia has been relying on her grandmother, Abby, to help her with Tink; both Ophelia and Abby are psychics, rather than mediums. Still, they have a medium or two in the family, so they do their best to help Tink control her powers and develop them.
Enter Aunt Dot, one of the best "old lady" characters to come along since Stephanie Plum's Grandma Mazur! Dot comes for a visit, and she's a pistol! Around 90 yrs old or so, she doesn't understand why Ophelia and Abby don't tell everyone about their abilities; she has nothing to hide. Then again, she does see and talk to the fairies, something that her Midwest relatives don't want her making public. Or does she really see the fairies? Seems Aunt Dot likes to have a glass or two of wine every day, wine that she and her sister make, wine that has a very "special" ingredient that really gives it a kick! Oh, and Aunt Dot knows all about the "adventures" that Ophelia has had so far and wants to have one of her own!
The mystery itself isn't bad, but it's really the characters that make these little books so enjoyable. I like Ophelia, Abby and Tink, plus some of the other regulars, such as the sheriff and Ophelia's best friend, Darci, but I absolutely LOVED Aunt Dot! I'm hoping to see her again in the next installment; she added some fabulous humor. If you like your mysteries light, and you enjoy a bit of the paranormal, then I would highly recommend picking up one of Damsgaard's books. You wouldn't even have to read these in strict order, but as usual, I'd recommend it!
