In the sixth book of the Magykal series, Alther Mella has been Banished, a Darke Domaine engulfs the Castle, and a Darke dragon is on the loose. Septimus Heap must use all of his skills to save the Castle and the Wizard Tower from destruction: He must enter the Darke. But he cannot do this alone. With the help of Jenna, Alther Mella, Marcellus Pye, and Septimus's estranged brother, Simon Heap, Septimus and Marcia Overstrand battle the spreading Darkenesse. Will Septimus succeed in protecting his Magykal world?

Written with Angie Sage's characteristic humor, Septimus Heap, Book Six: Darke is a compelling fantasy adventure filled with surprises, thrills, and laugh-out-loud moments. Readers will revel in the action-packed story as they realize the wisdom of Magyk -- that all things are meant to be part of a living whole.

Characters edit see section history

  • Septimus Heap: The eponymous protagonist of the series, Septimus spent the first ten years of his life in the Young Army as Boy 412 after DomDaniel attempted to abduct him. As the seventh son of a seventh son, he has exceptional magical powers and is currently apprenticed to the ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstrand, who he trusts more than anyone else. He shares his birthday with Jenna, his adoptive sister.
  • Jenna Heap: Adopted by the Heap family as a baby in place of Septimus, Jenna is actually the daughter of the assassinated queen, and thus a princess. She is a small girl, with deep violet eyes, fair complexion and wears a deep red cloak with the gold circlet of the princess on her head. Although loving and caring at heart, she can sometimes be very stubborn. She loves her family dearly and would do anything for them.
  • Marcia Overstrand: The current ExtraOrdinary Wizard. Ambitious and willful, Marcia is a very powerful wizard. Although she seems stern, bad-tempered and often intimidating, there are a number of instances when she shows she truly has a good heart. She loves her apprentice Septimus dearly and feels great responsibility to protect both him and his sister, perhaps with her life. She also has arguments occasionally with Silas Heap and Jillie Djinn, neither of whom she gets on well with. She is a tall woman, with long, dark curly hair and deep-green eyes, and generally wears a deep purple tunic with her trademark purple python-skin boots. Her symbol and source of power, an Akhu-Amulet, hangs around her neck.
  • Alther Mella: A previous Extra Ordinary Wizard that is now a ghost. He mentored Silas Heap as well as Marcia Overstrand who took his place when he was killed. Even as a ghost, he still helps the living, especially Septimus Heap, very much.
  • Beetle: A former scribe and best friend to Septimus as well as a friend of Jenna's.
  • Merrin Meredith: The apprentice to DomDaniel who was originally mistaken for Septimus Heap
  • Jillie Djinn: Chief Hermetic Scibe at the Manuscriptorium and previously Beetle's boss
  • Foxo: Beetle's friend who works at the Manuscriptorium as a Scribe
  • Tertius Fume: A ghost who caused trouble in previous books but who is banished at the beginning of the book.
