Description edit see section history

MAUS was the first half of the tale of survival of the author's parents, charting their desperate progress from prewar Poland Auschwitz. Here is the continuation, in which the father survives the camp and is at last reunited with his wife.

Characters/People edit see section history

  • Art Spiegelman: Comic strip artist. He is the one writing the story, interviewing his father about his experiences.
  • Vladek Spiegelman: Vladek, or Vlad, is the narrator, Art's, father. He survived the Holocaust with his wife Anja, though they were separated for a majority of the time. He is an old man now, and very sick, so he begs his son and his wife to come and stay with him. Though his son mainly only came to hear his side of the Holocaust, Vlad is willing to oblige him. As a person, he seems to be very careful with his life and belongings, trying to cling to the better times of his past, while trying to shove the terrible parts away.
  • Mala: Vladek's current wife. She and Vladek do not get along very well.
  • Francoise: Art's wife. French. Converted to Judaism when she married Art. She is sensible and smart, and helps to take care of Art's father.
