  • Art Spiegelman: Author of the book. The son in the story who is writing down his father's stories.Irritated with his father. Very interested in his parent's story and how they survived the Holocaust.
  • Vladek Spiegelman: The main character of the book. He is telling his story of WWII through his own eyes. Married to Mala Spiegelman. Formerly married to Anja. He tells about how his life was before the Nazi's and during the Nazi's reign.
  • Mala Spiegelman: Vladek's current wife. The two do not get along well at all. Mala is irritated by Vladek's miserly ways.
  • Anja Spiegelman: Vladek's former wife, whom he still loves very dearly. Art's mother.
  • Richeu Spiegelman: Son of Vladek and Anja
