I definitely intend to check out more of her novels! My only real complaint about this one is that I felt she copped out a bit on the main conflict towards...” see full review » see other reviews » |

Sadie's husband, Adam, was paralyzed in a skiing accident four years ago. He's angry, she's angry but they don't communicate. Instead, Adam keeps his writing secret and Sadie meets with Joe once a month every Friday to hear about his latest sexual conquests.
Sounds depressing doesn't it? Well, it is! Adam is very angry and with good reason but Sadie is angry too. The sad part is that Sadie is a psychologist. Yep, you heard me right, a psychologist. Seems like she would know what to do but did I say she's angry? And not just at Adam but at almost everyone. The sad part is wondering if the author is going to take a cheap shot and do the worse thing possible.
And then we have Joe. The stories were a bit lackluster except the part where Joe is the most considerate and "awesomest" lover of all time. In spite of that, I do like Joe but everything involving him just left me with more questions than answers. How did Joe end up telling Sadie all his sex stories and why did she let him? If Joe felt that way all along, why did he agree to get married? How did Joe know where Sadie lived? And why didn't Sadie freak out about that?
I do have to say that I liked how Sadie handled herself at the end. That redeemed her in my eyes.
This is a pretty emotional read and a bit hopeless but at least it does end on a somewhat positive note.
Favorite line:
"They were all you, to me. All of them were you."

“Wow. A well written, very nuanced emotional story. Megan Hart is a great story teller.”

The author's insight regarding the rage against what can't be changed and the loss of what was makes this worth reading. ”
