“The Lightning Thief, the graphic novel, by Rick Riordan, is an adventure book that takes the readers into the world of Greek Gods, monsters, and demigods. The novel tackles one of my favorite subjects: mythology. This book is action-packed, filled with wonderful illustrations, great stories, and brings reading to life, especially for reluctant readers. The story allows for the readers to witness that every person has a purpose and a reason and can help his or her friends out, no matter what disability they think that they might have. I liked that the comic format allowed for the readers to have the simplified version of the story and experience the different Greek myths. The story itself is simple: a twelve-year-old dyslexic boy discovers that his father is a Greek God who must retrieve Zeus' lightning bolt. The adventure of retrieving the bolt with friends keeps readers laughing, on the edge of their seats, and teachers very good morals to the reader. The Lexile is GF470L, the DRA is 60, the interest level is sixth grade, and the reading level is at 3.1. This adventure story finds a fun way to teach the readers about mythology. ”Maggilunar wrote this review 3 weeks ago. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“ This book has a lot Greek mythology involved and in many ways is similar to the Harry Potter series but yet has its own touch. Overall is filled with a lot of action and adventure and is an entertaining book.”Sai Aravala wrote this review Wednesday, October 30, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“The Lightning Thief in graphic novel from by Rick Riordan and adapted by Robert Venditti brings the world of Greek mythology and the role of demigod to life. This adaptation of the original novel transforms in this new version full of graphic art and gives each character its own voice. Those who enjoy graphic novels may be won over by Percy and his adventures. An impossible self discovery and learning of his wild ancestry leads a lonesome Percy to may friendships and a quest that begins a great story line. With interest in this new version perhaps readers will seek out the original novel. Good series, graphic form is entertaining.

“The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
Genre: Graphic novel/adventure/myth/folktale
This is a fun way to read about Percy Jackson if you are not a higher level reader. You will not have to read through the settings and character descriptions because they have been visually represented for the reader. It gets straight to the story by having it dialogue based. It follows Percy through his discovery of being a demi-god. He is on his first quest to right the wrong of another. He has been accused of stealing Zeus bolt and has to return it before an all out war breaks out between brothers. He fights demons along the way and learns who he can and can't trust. It's a fun way to read about myths for those who have difficulties sticking to more traditional stories.

“Do you enjoy reading action thrillers? If so, read this book because it has adventure, action, and some crazy scenes. The Lightning Thief by rick Riordan has great scenes and amazing characters. This book takes place when Percy is 13 years old at a camp where he is sent. He is half mortal and half god. A good scene was when the camp grouped together and splits up to teams to play capture the flag. That’s the scene that really impressed me. My opinion of this book is a 4/5 because it had a ton of action and adventure. Pick this up at the closest store near you. I really liked this book because it had great scenes. And it made me feel like I was really there. And that’s why I’m giving it a 4/5.
