The Road

by Random House

Best known for his Border Trilogy, hailed in the San Francisco Chronicle as "an American classic to stand with the finest literary achievements of the century," Cormac McCarthy has written ten rich and often brutal novels, including the bestselling No Country for Old Men, and The Road. Profoundly dark, told in spare, searing prose, The Road is a post-apocalyptic masterpiece, one of the best... (read more)

Audible Books to recommend 261 books / 203 members / 512 posts I thought it would be nice to have a list of books that people have read that are on audible (i.e., downloads from Audible.com, library CDs, etc).

Often I have to go from book review back to Audible.com to see if it's there before I can check it off to my Wish List (right now I am listening to my books for the most part). I don't like cassette tapes, however, and I have seen where a book may be available on tape but not CD or download. Downloads are less expensive, too. Starlet
Apocalypse Lovers 159 books / 300 members / 735 posts O.K. I admit it, I love post-apocalyptic novels. Anything where society has been forever altered whether it is plague, nuclear weapons, aliens, meteors or Good vs. Evil doesn't matter, I just love a good tale where everything has been re-imagined. Come join me and discuss your favorite and not-so-favorite apocalypse novels

Bongoid Mooing 22 books / 9 members / 33 posts A collaborative shelf in which to put currently being read books or books we want to read. There are no rules. This is a private shelf that is by invite only and can be viewed by members only. A veritable oasis of book hedonism.
The 400 Pages (or Less) Book Club 73 books / 10 members / 16 posts This is a "no pressure" book club. We will only read books with 400 pages or less - unless we really want to read it :-)

You don't have to finish reading the book or even start reading the book to participate. Come on in & join us for a discussion about why you didn't finish - or what stopped you from picking it up in the first place.

Late Night Bookies 51 books / 63 members / 329 posts The Late Night Bookies is the book club that Optic Junkie and I started up about three years ago. We are located in the Rocky Mountain West in the United States--hot summers and bitter winters...but beautiful mountains and forests and wonderful people!

We called ourselves the Late Night Bookies--because we're pretty much late night people who love to read, our book clubs always go late, late into the evening...(read early morning hours)...and sometimes...if we start reading, we just can't stop until we've reached the end.

We've read a lot of books--had some book swaps, eaten some great food and had some good laughs along the way.

I wanted to share the books that we have read, as well as open up to discussion recommended books for future reading and ideas/recipes for continuing to enhance our book club experience.

I hope you enjoy the visit!

I chose it because it could be dusk or dawn--a magical time, especially for the imaginative book reader!

What is BookMooch? from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BookMooch
BookMooch is an international, on-line book exchange community founded by John Buckman in July 2006. Membership is open to anyone and is free. BookMooch allows its users to exchange books using a points system. Members earn points by adding books to their inventories, by sending books to other members, and by providing feedback when they receive books. The points earned can then be used to “mooch” books from other members. All books “cost” the same number of points, with a multiple point surcharge for international mooches. Members may opt to send books only within their own country, worldwide, or worldwide upon request.
