Not sure how I heard about this book, but so glad I did. I look forward to reading or listening to more of this series.
It's funny and suspenseful. The main character is a game warden in Blanco County, Texas. It's the week before deer season. There's a rich guy who has a huge ranch he's using for deer hunting....and running drugs.....
There are Colombians, rednecks, best friends, a hot nurse....a lot of action and plenty of grins throughout the story. I enjoyed my time with the characters and the tale.
    More please...

Plain old foolish! This book is funny as hell. Satire at its best, this series of mysteries takes place in Blanco County, Texas. Anything wacky can and will happen!

a red neck mystery story. very different. things are strange in blanco county texas. deer are behaving strangely. the locals are behaving strangely. strange mexican folks are showing up and behaving strangely. the sheriff doesn't seem to care. that leaves a game warden and a deputy to try to figure things out.
the plot's more than a little unlikely, but the characters are.....characters and i enjoyed following them through the story as it unfolded.

I enjoyed the camaraderie and mixed-up use of words between rednecks Billy Don and Red which made for some times of laughter.

A good little mystery, with a touch of humor and romance to please everyone. But nothing really special. Good if you've got a free afternoon, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Ben Rehder has a hilarious way of describing life in Blanco County Texas. But, he always finds the bad guy and the reader has a great time following in his footsteps. His sense of humor is addicting and his characters are so real they live on in my memory for months and often years after I've read the book. There's nothing better than another Ben Rehder book. His books help me enjoy life. Thanks Ben! :-D
