My wife and I got a handsome edition of this book as a wedding present for a naturalist friend of ours. I was so envious, I wanted to take it out of the plastic. I was a good boy, though, and was rewarded with my very own copy for Christmas.

Drink it slowly like a fine port. There is so much beauty and exquisite detail, and artful arrangements. I wish I could easily scan these for art, tattoo designs, Web graphics… they're just so beautiful and compelling, artfully laid out and rendered.

The text concerning the history of the upper-class fad of the Cabinet of Curiosities was also very interesting. So clearly of its time. And the examples of other cabinets of curiosities are also interesting.
