"The Daughters" by Joanna Philbin, explored the dramatic life of 3 famous people’s children. The book takes place in New York, and follows the lives of 3 young girls named Lizzie, Hudson, and Carina. This book also has 2 other sequels and another in the making. Lizzie is the daughter of super hot super model Katia, and Lizzie must live in her shadow all the time. Hudson is the daughter of mega superstar pop singer her mom. Carina is the daughter of the very wealthy man, her dad. All the daughters want to stand up to their parent so they can become their own person and not just the kid of that famous person. Lizzie ends up wanting to model like her mom, but in a different way called, “unique modeling.” Things end up not so well when she ruins her career with the wrong choices. Hudson ends up having a great voice, and a song she is recording but her mom wants to take control and wants to make Hudson’s jazzy, easy listening sound to super pop techno stuff. And carina’s father ends up making her work for him, but she finds that some of the funds from a fundraiser he did, did not make it to the cause, so technically he took money from his company. And on top of all this Lizzie still has to worry about school, and the love of her life that moves back to New York after he had moved to London. There was lot’s of drama, excitement, and easy to relate to scenarios in the novel, and I hope you will enjoy it too.
