  • Guts: Mercenary, who at this point is trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life.
  • Caska: Great leader. Fighter. Member of the Band of the Hawks
  • Griffith: Normally a strong man, who has a dream of becoming a king. Losing someone he trusts, could be his undoing.
  • Judeau: a wise young boy, who is a member of the band of the Hawk. Constantly watching out for Caska and Guts, giving advise or kind words.
  • Rickert: a tiny boy who is a member of the hawks
  • Corkus: a negative pessimistic member of the hawks to tends to always be annoyed and frustrated. Argues and complains.
  • Princess Charlotte: A princess who is the king's 'precious treasure'. Marrying her could lead to becoming a king of the land or to ones downfall.
  • Knight of the Skeleton: mysterious creature who speaks to Guts, and warns him.
