- Guts: Mercenary. The Black Swordsman. He has a brand of the sacrifice on his neck. So as he hunts down demons he's being hunted as well. He doesn't care about anyone or anything other than hunting down the five members of the Godhand. People who die in the process were weak deserve to die. If the people died they weren't living there dream they deserved to die too.
- Puck: A little tiny Elf with wings. Guts 'saved' Puck. Puck decides to follow Guts to try and help him. She can feel people's emotions and can even help them be happy. She also has healing powers.

- The Brand of Sacrifice: Also simply known as The Brand. A mark of those who have survived the Eclipse. An worldly place where demons feed on human flesh. The Brand bleeds allowing the person to know that demons are near. It also summons demons to the person who has a brand, because a person with the Brand 'should be dead' they wish to finish them off.
- Apostles: The demons created from the Eclipse. Demon was once human but turned into a demon. Feeds on human flesh enjoys killing humans.
- Incubus: "They're evil spirits that gave people nightmares and feed off their fears."
- Incubi: "born of the mix blood and sexual fluids of those who died filled with hatred and malice."
