“We read this book as a group here on Shelfari upon my recommendation because I thought the premise was interesting. I did NOT enjoy this book. It was torture to get through it - really. (And I LOVE to read!).Nothing seemed to move forward in this one, and I had trouble keeping up with who was doing what to whom. I also didn't like his style of writing; I think it would have been better to have done this as a piece of historical fiction in my opinion. Constantly breaking in with historical quotes made the writing choppy. I'm afraid I wouldn't even recommend it for a long plane ride...unless you need to get some shut-eye.”
