I thought this would be some cheesy 'hardcore horror' book with lots of laughs and kinky parts to make the work day go by... buuuut I was wrong. There is nothing wrong with the book itself. It's a well written page turner. But it's not made to be an enjoyable read. Period. The highly HIGHLY TABOO subject matter deals with the 'snuff' industry. There is lots of anxiety and grotesque depressing situations involving unwilling participants. It's about the lowest form of evil a human being can express onto another; a combination of sex & death and the disturbing form of pleasure and power that comes from it. This stuff does go on in the real world and reading this book will make you pretty d*mn angry. Not for sensitive readers. Movie potential!”
“I regretted reading this book. I continued reading in the hope goodness would somehow overcome the evil found within the pages. I was left with the lingering feelings of sadness, pain and even fear and a knowing that this work of fiction does at some point have truths. There are people in this world who do gain pleasure from others suffering and pain and in fact are instruments for the pain for their own hideous pleasure.
I wish I had never read this book. ”
“Survivor is sick, twisted, and very, very disturbing. I briefly considered abandoning it in frustration after Lisa did what she had to do to get out of her situation. Then I realized I had to finish to see if Tim, Animal and the other depraved monsters got their due. I'm relieved it is finally done and the book safely out of my house.
I honestly don't know what possessed me to buy Survivor. I like well written horror stories and don't mind some violence and gore, but Survivor wasn't particularly well written and the excessive violence and brutality made me feel dirty for reading it. ”
