  • Mafatu: Mafatu is a boy who wants to impress his people that he is brave. After he lost his mother from the sea, he's been afraid of the sea. He goes on an adventure to an island with his pets.
  • Uri: Mafatu's yellow dog and Mafatu's best friend. He goes with Mafatu to the island
  • Kivi: Mafatu's albatross and friend. Kivi leads Mafatu to the island.

First Sentence

It happened many years ago, before the traders and missionaries first came into the South Seas, while the Polynesians were still great in numbers and fierce of heart.
