Very good collection of short stories. I'd highly suggest reading it after reading Eva Luna. It compliments the first book and makes it a better story all together. I was very moved by some of the stories in this collection.

I didn't enjoy this as much as Eva Luna - but I still love Allende's style!

I actually like this better than Eva Luna. Sexy, whimsical, and very very Chilena...

This is a book I have given away numerous times. It is a great sampling of her work.

Allende in another great shout.... the book takes you to an amazing sense of the human being attitude and behavior when confronted we love, hate, revenge and passion. It’s a god collection of short stories.

Lots of short stories ... enjoyed some ... others not so much ... felt they were too short ... prefer more character development - even in a short story. I much prefer her longer novels.

I've read the English version - in case you're wondering how I learned Spanish so quickly!

I actually prefer this to the original novel Eva Luna. Here Allende's pen has less to prove and so she is free to cover more ground in these romantic and sorrowful tales. The amazing variety of characters makes for rich and poignant stories.
