“Much like Renovare's "Spiritual Classics", Devotional classics gives you a reading plan to challenge your thinking by providing short, weekly devotions covering a variety of Spiritual Growth topics. Richard Foster again weaves in insights from great Christian writers to give you pause for consideration. This is a book to be read slowly and not rapidly gone through so you can check it off your "have read" list.
Highly recommended!”
“Amazing devotional! Includes amazing teaching from authors I love like C.S. Lewis, Dallas Willard, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer but also works of authors I've always wanted to read but have been too intimidated to read such as Francis of Assisi, Martin Luther, Brother Lawrence, Soren Kierkegaard, and Jonathan Edwards. I have to re-read entire portions at least twice to grasp the meaning but I love the challenge and feel my brain stretching and my heart growing.”

Several pastors or other former seminary students have told me that these authors and writings were prevalent in their seminary coursework.
I like that there is a short but meaty excerpt, and then discussion/thought-provoking questions. Very nice for a group where people can "drop in". There are also suggested exercises that group members can practice during the week then report back at the next meeting.
I highly recommend this book. ”
