Foster does a wonderful job of illuminating the value of cultivating a deeper, more intentionally spiritual inner life. I loved the final focus on the discipline of Celebration! Having fun is something I have a hard time doing. For whatever reason, I have to try very hard to relax and loosen up!

What an amazing book. Foster breaks down the basic Christian disciplines in an easy to read format. It is a book that I re-read yearly.

Powerful even from the start in that it makes me look in the mirror and that's what I should be doing.

I loved it and plan to study it again with friends. In a very non-condemning way, it invites us into a more intimate relationship with the Savior with practical ways to do so.

This book is excellent for the Christian and non-Christian alike. It deals with personal responsibility and can be read on many levels. Foster is a Quaker and there are MANY things we could all learn from them.

I have started reading this book about 5 times. I know it's going to be great...if I just had the discipline to freaking stick with it!!!! Was that Foster's Plan? to show me how badly i lack discipline that i can't even read a book about the subject? i am determined to read it. right after i get done with this semester of school. nice and depressing. just in time for summer.
