Woolf's last novel. Again, her focus is on time and compressing time in a way that dconstructs traditional narrative structure. And yet...she still tells a story, a compelling story that revolves around an ensemble of characters who are caught up in the events of one English afternoon and evening. In some ways, she seems to have moved beyond the pyrotechnics of the early novels and settled into a deeper level of mastery. In this novel, Woolf is clearly at the height of her power.
