“Teenaged Susie has never known her father, Jack. She's desperate for his love and for the knowledge that she is lovable. Thus she sets out to seduce Jack. What follows is a single-minded seduction of the father she never knew. Peile's use of first person narration to tell Susie's story is very successful; we are given a clear view of her mindset. However, more knowledge of Jack's point of view or that of his wife Olive might have given the story more depth and made it more relatable. That being said, if anyone had told me that it were possible to write a story about the sexual love between a father and his daughter in which the father was clearly the victim, I wouldn't have believed it... let alone believed that I'd really appreciate the cringe-worthy obsessiveness of the daughter's story.”
