This book is another excellent addition to the Elm Creek Series.

As Christmas approaches, Sarah coerces Sylvia into "decking the halls" in the Elm Creek home. As Sarah continues to reveal old times past with each Christmas decoration, she refuses to face her own conflicts with her mother as she promised Sylvia.

Sylvia recalls the ol' Bergstrom tradition of the apple streudal, the loss of her mother as well as her brother, husband and later her father. After struggling through memories of joy and great loss, Sylvia can no longer put off making ammends and urges Sarah to do the same.

While the readers find themselves in a flashback of time, there are several pieces to the puzzle that become important. The reader will come to understand the connection Sylvia has with the Bergstrom family and the memories that the Elm Creek home shares within it's walls.

Memories with her cousin foreshadow things to come in the next book which overall makes this book a comfy recollection of things past and much to anticipate in the future.
