  “amazing! totally absorbing, fascinating and very emotionally powerful. i never understood what foot binding was all about, and this book gave me access to an incredible world of oppression, love, strength and sadness. loved it!”

While there are flashbacks to May's Chinese life, it is told more from the perspective of a European in China.”
