Joss Whedon is a God, and Buffy is his kick-ass Goddess. The proof is in the 7 seasons of the WB-to-UPN show, but when it finished its run, the stars of the series were done, but Joss wanted more. So here is the first volume of the "new" season of Buffy episodes. All the characters are back: Buffy, Xander, Willow, Dawn, Giles, and the slayerettes, with a new baddie and plenty of wisecracks and butt-kicking going on. The art by Georges Jeanty is a perfect compliment to Joss's narrative imagination. All in all, a nice little package and nostalgic trip back to the world of Miss Summers and her Scooby Gang. Yes, I'm a total fan-boy when it comes to all things Buffy, but this series is actually pretty damn good. Brian K. Vaughan, who created "The Runaways" and "Y: The Last Man," takes over writing duties for the next arc, so we'll see if he can keep up the level of excellence that Joss has set for the series. This is a terrific series. It picks up where the TV series left off, and Joss Whedon is still in charge of the story line.
