A girl moves into an apartment with her widowed mother and the lady who lives downstairs is old and nasty. One day the girl meets her neighbor and they explor the garden in the backyard finding an old doll with a mysterious note. A cat leads them back and forth to a ghosts house that you cant get to without the cat. After the old lady gets the doll back from the kids, Louisa, the ghost, wants it back before she dies. The lady softens up and gives the doll back. It is a very happy ending.
