Recommended by my father...but it is not as bad as the title might suggest. Actually it was a much more entertaining essay on how professionals of all sorts can deal with complexity better. Naturally this is by using checklists but don't be put off by the spoiler in the title. The essay was comprised of many interesting 'war stories' from the medical, engineering, investment and aviation world and only a small dusting of descriptions the making of checklists. I kept looking for take home messages for the normal person but instead of specifics it gave me an appreciation of how to take a complex issue and look at it in a different light. As a result this was not a how to book but it still might provide an interesting read for someone looking to prevent the sort of failures that repeatedly arise from doing a complex task.
