Olivia, the shy introvert. Stella, the too-tall activist. Mo, the overachiever with a secret. Wen, who finds himself attracted to his dad's girlfriend. Charlie, with the failing grade in English Comp. After these five freshmen who don't fit in at Opoqounsett High all end up with detention on the same day, (Wen for cursing in class, Stella for her "inappropriate" t-shirt, Charlie for throwing a spitball, Olivia for skipping class, Mo being caught kissing her boyfriend) something miraculous happens. The school has been cutting the art and music programs in favor of giving the sports teams new locker rooms and a new scoreboard. While in detention with the seemingly strict music teacher, Mrs. Reznik, they hear a dentist's jingle on the radio. Olivia starts to sing it and the others start to play "instruments" such as rubber bands and an old ukelele. The five eventually start a band and call it Lemonade Mouth. They sign up to play at the Halloween Bash and the Holiday Talent Show. After the Halloween Bash, where Stella complained about the removal of the lemonade machine so the school could get funding for the new scoreboard. The principal of the school doesn't like their message, so he forces Lemonade Mouth to stop playing at school and does not allow them to play in the talent show. The band eventually gains popularity within the school because of this, telling the teachers to "Don't stop the revolution". The music is eventually banned from the school, but the five band members still hear it on the radio.
