I read it first back in the early 1980's, and just this past spring and summer read it for the second time. Michener writes long novels but they are well worth the time!”

There was one section I thought diverted from the book and found it out of place, the story of the geese, otherwise, I enjoy Michener's writing and knowledge of what he writes.”

I also found that since Michener touched on so many generations, he seemed to spread himself too thin. Never allowing the reader to become emotionally involved with any of the character's lives. I would suggest keeping track of the 'family tree' as you read...it helps to keep the past clear if you know which Steed, Paxmore or Turlock you're reading about!”
