A powerfully written epic of our country's early history.

A wonderful story of the beginnings of our country. You fall in love with the characters, even the animals and attach to them through the book so even when they grow old and pass on you feel a loss.

My mother and my soon to be mother-in-law, both in their 60s, are ardent Michener fans. I recall growing up and having my mom talk all about his books. I moved to Colorado and both recommended I read Centennial as it's the history of northern Colorado...starting with the plate tectonics! The first 100 pages are pretty boring and I couldn't understand why both moms would recommend it. Then it got good. Really good. Michener's fortay is his character development and stories. I'm almost done, but it's hard to put down.

Michner's Books give a slice of geography with the history of the land. some may think They are dated. I do not, because the flavor he brings to his taless prevail today

Really enjoyed this book; the history of how our continent was formed and the Arapahoe people and what became of them. The interaction between the new Americans/settlers and the Native Americans was very sad and we all know how that ended.....and what still goes on to this day.
