One of my favorite Michener novels. It flys along at a gallopping pace and never dulls.

A novelized history of the space program packed with technical details and information about the origins of the space program and the early astronauts.

I just love Michener and the way he follows a story and place through time. Unfortunately the print in my versions are miniscule and defying another read as the eye sight ages.

Space: it is the object of dreams and daring of countless men and women who have made it the last, great frontier of human endeavor. James Michener has brought the human touch to that exciting exploration by bringing to life six men and women. Their dedication to the space experience defines its complexities and fascination as no other writer can. Michener remains a superb storyteller.

This was another Michener book that made me want to go there. I did tour Kennedy Space Center. I read it a second time before I went there.

The first ever "epic" book that I've read and loved. With well built and truly real characters and set on a historical backdrop that has grabbed my imagination since childhood, space is the kind of book that you'll find hard to let go of.
