That Summer

That Summer

by Sarah Dessen

For 15-year-old Haven, her summer is framed by two weddings--her father's and her sister Ashley's. Nothing seems stable except for her memories of the summer that Ashley dated Sumner Lee, who suddenly reappears in Haven's life, giving her a perfect link to that perfect past--and her future. Overview: Groups

Shelfari Group Admins 822 books / 6300 members / 4463 posts Welcome all Shelfari group admins! It's about time we created a group just for group admins. This is the place to:

*Offer tips on what does or doesn't work for groups.
*Ask questions about how groups work and what options you have as admins.
*Let us (the Shelfari Team) know what features would be helpful in your groups.
*This group is not a place to advertise your group (or book) to get members--and I will delete discussion threads that are irrelevant.

REMINDER: You can search within the discussion threads in this group by using the "Search Discussions" button on the upper right-hand side of this page

If you have a general question about how to use Shelfari or a problem, please visit the Shelfari Questions group (http://www.shelfari.com/groups/15217/about).

If you want to discuss general site improvements or request features (not relevant to groups), please visit Shelfari Discussions (http://www.shelfari.com/groups/10000/about).

Note:
--This group is for Shelfari admins only.
--If you need to report abuse or harassment in your group, please send a message using the "email group admin" box on the profile page for this group (or feedback@shelfari.com).

50 Book Challenge! 3285 books / 3444 members / 20723 posts When asked about the new Amazon Kindle product, Steve Jobs CEO of Apple computer had this to say:

“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said. “Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”

Welcome to the the 50 Book Challenge, where we fly in the face of Steve Jobs.

Basically .... the challenge is to read 50 books in one year. OR ... establish a goal for yourself more or less, it's up to you, just because we say 50 books doesn't mean that has to be your goal too.

Start a thread, WITH YOUR NAME IN THE SUBJECT OF YOUR ORIGINAL POST, and log your books. It is a very good idea to bookmark (when in your post, add it to your internet browser's favorites) your post for easy location for future updates. Things move quickly around here.

If you haven't been keeping track of the books you've read, start when you join.

Thanks for being here and have fun. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to contact me.

Mrs. Gaetano's English Class, Period 4, Third Quarter 25 books / 21 members / 105 posts Welcome to your third quarter outside reading book project! Your first attempt at Shelfari was wonderful. We are going to change things a little bit and try to grow in our responses to the literature. 1. I would like you to write a book review where you explain what is going on in the book. Notice, this is not a plot summary, but an overview of what a reader should expect as she reads the book. Please look on shelfari.com for a review of your book. It should help you understand what you should include in your project. 2. Along with the review I would like you to include a quote that exemplifies the character, a theme, or the understanding of the book. 3. Finally, I want you to end this review with a recommendation. Who would like this book? What other books can you relate your book to? After you are done with this recommendation I would like you to comment on your classmates’ reviews. This requires you to make a thoughtful comment and to ask a question. You are required to respond to at least three people. Please look at the project wrap-up for the last quarter to see some truly exemplary examples.
