The plotting is tense and clever. I find the characters overwritten (isn't that a hoot from me) and they get in the way of the story. I am ruined by Hollywood - of course, I am reading with an eye towards adapting which colors the way I see the book. Ultimately, I liked it but found the lead character too much to be plausible.”

It's dark and shows "the underbelly" of contemporary Japanese society. A couple of scenes are rather gory, but the story line is compelling. A fascinating peek into the desperate lives of Japanese women working on an assembly line. A great change of pace from the more popular historical fiction written about Japan.”
