“Boring. This could have been shortened a lot. Plus I kind of thought the reason for it all in the end was kind of dumb. ”Crittercrazy wrote this review Sunday, September 8, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“I liked the idea of the main character being autistic, but the autism plus water element plus Russian agent who is also psychic seemed a little too much going on at once. ”Elizabeth H wrote this review Friday, June 28, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“This is a great start to Christine Feehan's new Sister of the Heart series. The series is going to be about Ilya's brothers. I had hoped that Ms. Feehan would bring that family together. The story picks up the same time as the ending of Hidden Current. Lev Prankenskii has been undercover trying to bring down a criminal that is selling secrets stolen from the United States and Russia. He is certain no one can love him because of his past and the things that he has had to do for his country. Rikki is a high functioning autistic with sensory dysfunction. She is a water element and is capable of doing amazing things with water. She is also a sea urchin driver. Rikki has found a place that she can survive and thrive in.
I loved these characters. The women that have come together through tragedy have form a community where they can each thrive and come to terms with their pasts. They have become sisters for all intents and purposes. Each women has their own gifts. I really loved this idea.
As always Ms. Feehan has written a story with a sneaky villain that has been stalking Rikki and burning down the homes that she has lived in. He has also killed her parents and fiance in those fires. He finds Rikki again about the same time the Lev shows up.
Jonas and Heather are featured in this book and of course Jonas knows immediately who Lev is. He warns Lev that Jackson is not going to be happy about him living so close to Elle. This conflict is not resolved in this book and it does look like it will be resolved in the next one. Also Ilya is also away from Sea Haven during this story so he doesn't realize that his brother is so close to him.
This is going to be a wonderful series and I hope that we get the next story soon. ”
“Once you get past the idiotic premise of an autistic woman rescuing a complete strange and taking him home with her AFTER he tries to strangle her, the plot is actually quite engaging.
The intense chemistry between Lev and Rikki is what kept me turning the pages, although it would have been even better if the nature of their connection had been explained more.
Lev has a dangerous and compelling past but it is not utilized to its best effect. Rikki is a lovely heroine and the descriptions of her reactions to sensory stimuli are heart-wrenching yet endearing. Nevertheless, the origin of her affinity with water needs more explanation and development rather than merely being described over and over. In fact, the writing is the main problem with the book as it is repetative and redundant with too many unnecessary descriptions of the same thing.
It is also unfortunate that the arson plot fizzles as it has a lot of potential but lacks tension and suspense, and the explanation has no real foundation.
I have the next book in paperback so will probably continue with the series. ”
“A fantastic continuation of the series. Along the same vein as the last but it will keep you engaged form the first to the last page.
A must read”
“I think I liked this book even more than the Drake Sisters novels. Something about Rikki and Lev's story was very entertaining.”EsmeEames wrote this review Wednesday, October 24, 2012. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
