Great book, but VERY long. The paperback is 706 pages!!! The story is far too complicated to condense, but the FBI agent and the detective were fun to read about. But it does go on and on and on and ON. Still, if you're down to your last book and it's snowing outside, it's a good one to have on hand.

Not as good as the other de Mille books I've read. Up Country has to be my favorite. This I found a little boring and hard to believe.

I really like the main character and his wife. His sense of humor is like mine. It is kind of scary. This book brings up just how destructive some people can be, as long as you have power and money. It also makes a person wonder about our government and what they really do that we are not aware of.

NYPD Detective John Corey and his wife, FBI Agent Kate Mayfield, investigate Custer Hill Club, whose members include the richest and most powerful leaders of the US. A plot to annihilate the Arab countries is being hatched.

I love Nelson DeMille and this book doesn't disappoint. John Corey and his FBI Agent wife become involved in a plot that may lead to a nuclear bomb being detonated on an American city. As always, I found this book intriquing and VERY scarey - because the premise, for me, is very believeable. I kept thinking that Chaney was going to walk ito the Custer Hill Club, along with a couple of hiss oil pals.

John Corey is back in this story, fighting for truth and justice as usual. He's still working as a special contract agent for the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force. And, of course, he's working this case with his wife Kate Mayfield, an FBI agent. His dry, sarcastic wit had me laughing a lot. But this story is no laughing matter.

Bain Madox, a billionaire with an overblown ego, and a group of equally egotistical men from high places in government and the military have gotten their hands on some old Russian nuclear weapons and have grandiose plans for the nukes to set Wild Fire into motion and allegedly save the world. Yeah, right.

The reason John and Kate are brought into the mess and how they figure out how to save their jobs, and maybe the world, form the basis for this intense, intriguing story.

Another page turner form Nelson Demille. Wise cracking John Corey makes for a good lead character. Like the plot.

Brave mixture of third person and narrative styles. Not seen this a lot - good to see an author brave enough to try it. I can't help thinking that Mr Demille should go straight to writing the screenplay..it like most of his writings would translate well for Hollywood.

I loved the premise of this novel. However between the protagonist grating on my nerves the whole novel, and I've read Plum Island and Nightfall by the same author without feeling this way; and the poor pacing/dismal execution I'm highly disappointed.

The 4th book in the Detective John Corey series. Always involving terroistic accounts. This book works around the 9/11 attack. Very thrilling and someone ends up making an appearance, which takes you totally off guard.
