“action/adventure: Another Jack Reacher novel involving drug dealers and an interesting abandoned military structure near a small town. The author is capable of making coincidences believable, and since Jack is a deductive genius, everything comes together beautifully.”Lynn M wrote this review Thursday, August 23, 2012. “61 hours is excellent. One of the most thrilling Reacher novels yet. The setting of a deadline and the idea of the time ticking away increases the tension. The chemistry between Reacher and 'Amanda' is electric and this is the first time that a female character has looked like she could leave Reacher speechless. Call me a romantic but I'd like to see more of her and Neagley of course. The villain is diabolical and the plot races as usual.
Plot Summary: While hitch hiking, Reacher's bus ends up in a minor accident outside one of America's prison towns. Reacher ends up helping the local police in a minor incident with a local biker gang. The incident snowballs and soon Reacher finds himself protecting an elderly spinster who intends to testify against the drug dealing bikers. The plot expands to involve Plato, a ruthless gangster who intends to take over form the biker gang. Also involved is a massive abandoned structure, constructed by the government. In order to get to the root of the issue, Reacher requests assistance from the new head of his old unit, an intriguing lady who calls herself Amanda. Plato, hand in glove with one of the local cops manages to eliminate all links to gang, only to realise that this may just be the start of all his problems.”
“This was an exciting Jack Reacher series with appealing and engaging characters.
This is the 3rd Reacher book I've read and I was relived he didn't come across as much of a superman in this one; this novel made him seem like a human with emotions and someone who makes errors (his failure to see the obvious when a certain person visited Ms. Slater's home...).
The book could have been edited; it really didn't need to be so lengthy.”
