I knew I was onto something good when I finished "The Last Stormlord" but it just keeps getting better. Ms. Larke has created characters with such depth that they truly become real people to the reader. Her world is fascinating with new concepts of magic (water painting) that are very intriguing. The only regret I have, is that I have to wait for her to finish the next book. It's going to be a long wait.”

Yes | No“ Good so far, one of the characters unfortunately detracts from my overall enjoyment of the novel. It seems that Ryka mainly and some of the other characters (to a lesser degree) have entered my least favorite stage of character development, the whiny stage. Star Wars had its moments, Lord of the Rings had moments of it, Robert Jordan had an entire series dedicated to it. While I understand the reasons behind the whiny stage, I dont enjoy it. I read books to escape reality and be entertained, not listen to someone's pitty party.
Hopefully the whiny stage ends and gets back to its roots and becomes an enjoyable read again.”
