“Aptly titled novel seems double the size of the normal Trek book and takes twice the trouble to plod through. The first three chapters pretty much map out the rest of this unsurprising novel with only the inclusion of the Romulans to liven things up a bit. Any book which now adds another planet of androids kept quiet by the Federation must be sure to earn my wrath (so where are these androids in ST:TNG? Are they the same as Data?). There are a number of Trek episodes which beg for sequels, but WALGMO never struck me as one which begged for follow-up, much less one which ends open-ended for another visit. Jan Friedman is one of my fav Trek authors and he can always be counted on for spot-on characterizations of the crew, however the author misfires with the premise and execution here.
Hard to recommend this one. ”
