“Great book for anyone bringing a technology product to market as it provides a step-by-step strategy of how to successfully organize sales, marketing, and new product development for a new product or company. Based on real experience. ”

All the things I had more or less implicitly applied in my own businesses or while doing technology transfer at Xerox are clearly explained and articulated in this book. I highly recommend it !”

This is a hard read ... somewhat monotonous ... but the core of it will make a "conventional product manager" (I am one) stop and think about all the failures in their professional life (which usually are many). However, without trying out the alternative approach - Customer Development - to product development, it is a little hard to say it works better than conventional product management. ”

The concept is very simple: you shouldn't start by building a product and then go searching for your "buyers". First research, design and build your customer and market; THEN go build a product that fits their requirements. Great concept, if I'd only read it back in 2000! Oh well moving on.... I have to say: the book is long and information dense. Not an easy, night time reading. You'll need lots of caffeine, mental sharpness and a note pad to take notes. The book is pretty dry but so full of valuable knowledge and information that you find the will to continue on reading! Go get it now and odds are that you'll never design another software product like you used to! ”
