"TYRELL" TOUCHED MY HEART [3

I'm a high school teacher who teaches reluctant readers. This book, along with Paranoid Park by Blake Nelson, is one of the first books a lot of my students have ever read.

I have read this book about five times, and I am very attached to the...

I read this book because it was banned at a middle school, and I wanted to know why. Tyrell lives in a homeless shelter in New York while his dad is in prison. His mother is dysfunctional and he cares for his brother who is retarded. I am sure it was banned not just because of the street...

Living in a homeless shelter with his mom and little brother Tyrell always feels like he is on the cusp of doing something wrong. Not wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps and go to jail he tries to do the right thing and make life better. But the only way to that is to make money, and the only way Tyrell knows how to make money would put him in jail.

its a really cool book. It talks about sex, love, fights, and drugs. its cool because things like this always happens in real life. like people go through trouble with money and parents are in jail or kids get taken away.

I read Tyrell by Coe Booth. Tyrell’s family moved from across the street from his girlfriend and now he lives in a homeless program. The program finds them a place where they can stay and it’s just Tyrell, his mother, and little brother. The mom is trying to get them out of there because she knows the boys hate that place, but along the way, Tyrell meets new friends, and someone like a sex buddy. While all that is happening he still has a girlfriend and he loves the family because her mom takes him in as her own. Hhe doesn’t care about her dad.

I like this book because it always had me thinking. I was like, "Oh, is the girlfriend going to find out what’s going to happen next?" Are they ever going to get out of the homeless shelter program? Will Tyrell ever meet his dad? Will he ever be a good role model for his little brother?"

I think that people would like it, but it would depend on what type of books do they like. If they like the type of book that doesn't feel like it connects to their, life or in that nature, then this isn't the book for them. If they like books where they could be like, "Oh, I have been in that position" then this is their book. This book has drama.

I would recommend this book because it's a great book and you'll would like this book too.

The book I’m choosing to do my review on is Tyrell by Coe Booth. Tyrell is one of my favorite books, I’ve read it twice, and I think this book is mainly towards teenagers that like books with drama, hard times, and teenage relationships. This book is about a 16 year old boy who’s father is lock up for selling drugs and him and his mom and little brother couldn’t support themselves so they are in a really horrible shelter home, he’s trying to follow in his fathers foot steps and become a d.j and throw wild parties and so he can rise money so he can get his family out the shelter. Its hard for him to get anything done with no money and a lazy mom who just puts her problems on everyone else, and makes Tyrell do all the work even though he’s still a teenager’s love this book and I think a lot of other people will, I recommend that you read it you will enjoy it trust me.
